Neurodivergent-affirming therapy for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults navigating burnout, trauma, masking, and identity.

  • You’ve been masking your entire life with little benefit to you. You’re crispy burnt out.

  • Lately, you’ve been feeling vulnerable and unsupported during meltdowns or shutdowns. The overwhelm is painful.

  • Your experience has been invalidated time and time again. You sometimes think that you might be an alien.

  • You’re fed up with the demands of others to be anything other than what you are.

  • You’re not just looking to be accepted by others, you crave the experience of trusting and accepting yourself.

Does this sound like you?

Realizing you might be neurodivergent later in life

My own journey as a late diagnosed autistic and ADHD-er made me understand how much I needed to be supported and seen by someone who really gets it.

Many adults come to therapy after years of feeling different and not understanding why.

You might have spent years:

  • masking or hiding parts of yourself

  • feeling overwhelmed by social expectations

  • struggling with burnout or sensory overload

  • wondering why seems thing easier for other people

Some adults discover they’re autistic or ADHD through research, talking with other people in the community, or after their child receives a diagnosis.

Therapy can be a place to explore these experiences and develop a more compassionate understanding of how your brain works.

About Your Therapist

I’m Emily, a licensed clinical social worker who provides neurodivergent-affirming therapy for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults. I am actually autistic and ADHD (AuDHD).

Many people I work with are navigating burnout, trauma, identity questions, or the emotional impact of years spent masking their neurodivergent traits.

My approach focuses on understanding your brain, building supportive strategies, and creating space for authentic self-expression.

  • Neurodivergent-affirming therapy recognizes that autism and ADHD are natural variations in human brains, not problems that need to be fixed.

Instead of trying to make you appear more “normal”, therapy focuses on:

    • understanding how your brain works

    • reducing shame from years of masking

    • creating strategies that work with your nervous system

    • supporting sensory needs and boundaries

The goal is not to change who you are, but to help you build a life that supports how your mind naturally functions.

  • Many adults experience traits of both autism and ADHD, sometimes called AuDHD.

This combination can create unique challenges, including:

    • cycles of hyperfocus and burnout

    • sensory overwhelm

    • executive functioning struggles

    • intense emotional regulation challenges

Therapy can help you understand how these patterns interact and develop supports that actually work for your brain.

  • Many neurodivergent adults experience periods of extreme exhaustion and loss of functioning known as burnout.

    Burnout may include:

    • overwhelming fatigue

    • increased sensory sensitivity

    • difficulty completing everyday tasks

    • loss of skills that previously felt manageable

Burnout often develops after years of masking, pushing beyond limits, or navigating environments that are not supportive of neurodivergent needs.

Therapy can help you understand burnout and begin rebuilding energy and self-trust.

  • Many autistic and ADHD adults learn to hide or mask their natural behaviors in order to fit in.

While masking can help with social acceptance, it can also lead to:

    • exhaustion

    • identity confusion

    • anxiety

    • chronic self-criticism

Therapy can provide a space to explore who you are beneath the mask and develop ways of living that feel more authentic and sustainable.

  • This therapy may be a good fit if you:

    • suspect you may be autistic or ADHD

    • were diagnosed later in life

    • feel exhausted from years of masking

    • struggle with burnout or emotional overwhelm

    • want therapy that respects neurodivergent identity
